Template

A template is a file with pre-set layouts and formats in applications such as Microsoft word. Templates have fields in position already, but have no information or data entered into them. The user only has to enter the text into the required spaces.

An example of template could be a letter opened in Microsoft word. When opened it is already pre-formatted in the style of a letter. There would be blank spaces for a name, address, receivers’ name, date, signature....etc, in which the author only has to fill in.

Users can create templates if they have to make the same document over and over again; they can format a template and it will open with the same format each time.
